Scholarship Overview

The Scholarship program was established in October 2000 by the donation of a very reasonable amount from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University Of Cambridge. For this 2020 entry, Gates Cambridge will offer 80 full-cost scholarships to outstanding applicants from countries outside the United Kingdom.

As long as you want to Pursue a full-time Postgraduate degree in any course available, then you can be part of this Scholarship program. However, approximately two-thirds of the awards will be offered to PhD Students, with approximately 25 awards available in the US round and 55 available in the international round.

General Requirement For The Scholarship Programme

If you meet the requirements below, then you can apply for the scholarship program

1. You must be a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.
2. You must be applying to pursue any of the following full-time residential courses – PhD, MSc/MLitt, One-year postgraduate course.

Below are the Courses which are NOT eligible for this Scholarship scholarship program;

• Any Undergraduate degree such as BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA)
• Master of Business (MBA)
• Master of Finance (MFin)
• PGCE
• MBBChir Clinical Studies
• MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time)
• Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
• Part-time degrees
• Non-degree courses

If you are studying at the University Of Cambridge already and wish to apply for this scholarship program, then you must be applying for a new Postgraduate. However, if you have already started a course, then you cannot apply for the scholarship to fund the remainder of it.

Application Deadline

There are two rounds of application

Round 1: US citizens living in the USA only. In this round, applicants must apply before 9 October 2020 for entry before October 2021.

Round 2: All other eligible applicants (part of the Graduate Funding Competition). For the course you are applying for, the deadline is either 3 December 2020 or 7 January 2021.
